I'm noticing a similar theme...

This is kind of a random thought that passed my mind when I was listening to the radio.. considering how our economy is doing, and how this affects people's lyrics... I noticed a similar theme in two songs, with key differences. INTERESANTE.  (Note: I cut out a lot of the songs. I'm just looking for specific lyrics and such.)

AIN'T WE GOT FUN
Ev'ry morning, ev'ry evening
Ain't we got fun?
Not much money, Oh, but honey
Ain't we got fun?
The rent's unpaid dear
We haven't a bus
But smiles were made dear
For people like us

In the winter in the Summer
Don't we have fun
Times are bum and getting bummer
Still we have fun
There's nothing surer
The rich get rich and the poor get children
In the meantime, in between time
Ain't we got fun?

Ev'ry morning, ev'ry evening
Don't we have fun
Twins and cares, dear, come in pairs, dear
Don't we have fun
We've only started
As mommer and pop
Are we downhearted
I'll say that we're not

Landlords mad and getting madder
Ain't we got fun?
Times are so bad and getting badder
Still we have fun
There's nothing surer
The rich get rich and the poor get laid off
In the meantime, in between time
Ain't we got fun?

FOR THE FIRST TIME
She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart
While i'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar
And we don't know how we got into this mad situation
Only doing things out of frustration
Trying to make it work but man these times are hard

She needs me now but I can't seem to find a time
I've got a new job now in the unemployment line
And we don't know how we got into this mess is it  Gods test
Someone help us cause we're doing our best
Trying to make it work but man these times are hard

But we're gonna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Sit talking up all night
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears

Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby

BOTH of these songs reflect that the artists are going through hard times. History repeats itself, yo. And when people are stressed about money, they take it out on their relationships. I just thought it was kinda funny how similar these songs were. It kept popping into my mind every time I heard For the First Time on the radio, and I kept on meaning to link them together... I think Ain't We Got Fun is definitely more optimistic, and For the First Time is more realistic. I love both of these songs. How do people make it work when things get bad? In Ain't We Got Fun, a husband reminds his wife about all of the awesome things they have going, even through the bad.  For the First Time encourages a couple to look at their relationship as if they're starting anew. For some reason, I think of both of these songs are extremely inspiring. I'm not exactly sure what else I wanted to say with this... but tell me what you think! Are there any other similarities you see? Differences? I know I didn't post all the lyrics... But I feel like it's really cool/scary how things happen over and over again if you're not paying attention.

Give me thoughts!! <3

I'm grumpy.

I'm sick.
I have a bunch of scholarship applications due in two days and I only bothered today to ask for recommendations. YIKES.
I have solo and ensemble contest this Saturday (and I'm SICK).
My boyfriend didn't come home this weekend.
Aaaaand I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly I have to do for college. Grrrr.

I'm grumpy.
Woe is me, yada yada yada. I'm over dramatic.
I just always have terrible timing.

"Oh yes, I'd love to do a solo again this year!"
About a week or so before contest EVERY YEAR I get sick. Every year! GAAAAHH!

I'm just stressed and stuff. That's all. And I like to publicly complain about it on the internet. Maybe that's just cuz that John guy hasn't been able to listen to me crab in person lately... yup, that's it. =)

Whatevaaaa. Terrible blog. I haven't been super inspired lately guys. I'm always thinking about grumpy, stressful things. Easy to write? Yes. Fun to read? Probably not. Hang in there with me, guys. bahaha

Oh! Maybe I could ask a question? A little blogger-reader interaction never hurt anyone! What is stressing YOU out lately? And why?

Anyone who read this to the end, I freaking love you. Thankssomuch.

Where is spring when I need it, anyway?

Maybe you don't know me.
I THRIVE on bright colors, happiness, and unicorns.
Jk on the unicorns. I knew I was starting to sound a bit sugary.

Buuuuut seriously. I'm SO sick of winter and this transition-y season CRAP. The cold is cool for a while, but when the weather starts to tease me, that's not okay. It was so nice a couple days ago and now it is freezing (you know, less than 32 degrees) with various types of precipitation. Not cool, Mr. Weather.

Not only that, I'm sick of all the winter colors. All these dark, muted tones. Lots of black, lots of dark neutrals.... lame. Where are the colors, yo? They left when summer did, THAT'S where they are. And I am upset that spring is holding out on me! It's my favorite season, and here I am, waiting, with open freaking arms.... and I'm getting stood up.  I guess I could wear those bright colors now. But it almost feels wrong, if that makes sense.

Mini disclaimer: No, I am not on crack. I'm just... quirky.

Hmmm. I do believe it's time for some pretty springy pictures. I'm loving putting more pictures in my blog these days. Gives it more interest. =)

(Side note: Yes. I want a romper. What of it?)

Hmm. I'm bored now. What are you looking forward to most this spring?

Guys, I'm stressin'.

So, as you know, I spend a lot of time on the internet. But other things do actually occupy my time as well! Hmm. Well. If we're being honest... just a specific part of my time. Right now, the mornings. Gag.

I have vocal practice every morning, Monday through Friday, at 7:15. Not cool! It takes me about 20 minutes to get into town, so I have to leave at about 5 til 7.... Thank GOODNESS looking decent is not high on my list of priorities. Anyway, these early(ish) morning practices are starting to wear on me. I know, I know. Some people in sports and SAQ and whatnot have to be up at 6, there at 6:30, blah blah blah. I guess I can sympathize. Whatever. baha. BUT! (wow I'm a ramblin' today...) I'm not used to leaving so early every morning. And what's worse - on the weekends when I CAN sleep in I, uh, can't. Prime example: This last Saturday I didn't have to be anywhere until 12:30 PM. I very well could have slept in until 10 or later. What time did I wake up? 7:30. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Oh well. Enough complaining.

Another thing I'm sucking at: applying for scholarships.
I missed the March 1st deadline for some of them. (Don't bother telling me I'm stupid, I already know.)
And I've been slowly working on the scholarships due April 1st. But it's so boring! =/ Whatever. I don't need to be a life hataaaaa. So I'll stop complaining.

A mini side note... I LOVE Katy Perry's makeup. I really don't like the bright colored wigs... but I looove the natural(ish) eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, big lashes, naturally blushed cheeks, and pop of color on the lips. Exaaaamples.....

I love this. Pop of pink on the lips without looking too crazy.

I love how this makeup is a little bit more peachy than the other examples I have here. I don't think that's quite the right word... but it's less blue-toned, I think?  Whatever. All I know is I want to steal her lipstick.

Recognize this from the Thinking of You video? =) She's rocking strong brows, heavy lashes, white eyeliner on the waterline, and berry lips and cheeks. LOVE.

Yup, she's my makeup idol I have decided.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand when I'm stressed, I do my makeup to distract myself. Can ya tell!?!?!?

You know, guys, I LOVE the internet...

And I'm going to link some of my faaaavorite websites right here.
Of course, I am not going to include the most obvious ones (YouTube, Facebook, Blogger, etc).

PS: I don't know if ya'll have noticed, but I FREAKING LOVE LISTS. I'm kinda sorta cut right down the middle when it comes to being left-brained/right-brained. Hmm. That's potentially a good blog topic later... whatevsies. =) Moving right along!

www.1000awesomethings.com
This is a maaajor pick-me-up website. It's one of my very favorites of all time. It takes silly little things out of our everyday lives that make us happy. I'll give you a few examples so you know what I'm talking about: eating for the first time after you've completely gotten over a cold, having just enough toilet paper left on the roll for you to use, aaaand a recent one - forgetting you ordered something online and then having it randomly show up. They're all things that happen to real people that just make us happy. We all gotta smile, fellas. =)

www.postsecret.com
Updated every Sunday. People send in postcards to this guy with their secrets on them. Its a crazy cool ongoing massive art project thing. (Well said, eh?) Sometimes the secrets are funny, tragic, gross, sweet, or strange... but the thing about it is, you know whoever sent that card meant every word they (d'oh! I mean he/she) said because it's confidential. Ever wanted to know what a stranger was thinking?

www.therofr.blogspot.com
Shameless support. Brian's blog. Go check it out. He's a funny kid. =) He posts random questions of the day, and they make ya think! And when did thinking ever hurt anyone? =) BUT SERIOUSLY. Go follow him now.

www.youtube.com/elitetoastersquad
MOOOORE shameless support. This is mostly Brandyn and his friends' channel. It's FUNNY. Brandyn has some wicked writing/editing skills. Plus he's funny. Check it.

www.theoatmeal.com
Okay, so this website I'm not familiar with at ALL. But my friend Kate was just in town (BIG FREAKING YAY) and she told me about it, and there were some seeeriously hilarious things on it. So, let's all trust Kate. baha

Along with this, I think I want to include some of my favorite YouTube channels... Cuz I have a LOOOT. =) Admittedly, all of the ones I'm going to talk about here are beauty/fashion channels. Disregard if you don't give a (four letter word) about looking pretty. =)

MichellePhan  Okay, this one is a duh. EVERYONE loves Michelle Phan. She's a makeup artist for Lancome these days, and she's so artistic. She was an art student first, so her makeup videos are usually inspired by something that caught her eye. Anyway, she's killer. Check it out.

LisaEldridgeDotCom  OHMYGOSH. She's soooo good! She's a professional makeup artist that is in the BIZ yo. She does lots of magazine covers and looks for celebrities blah blah blah.  As she goes through each makeup look, her videos are sooo packed with good information on ways to apply makeup. She's AWESOME. Desafortunatamente, she uses lots of really expensive makeup so I can't really relate that way.. But her technique is what you watch the video for. So good.

BubzBeauty  Some people don't like this girl because of her voice... She has a funny/rather cute little accent, but I think she's adorable.  I kinda hate her makeup tutorials cuz they're boring... But her hair tutorials are stupendous. They're usually so simple, but in a way you wouldn't expect. The thing I'm starting to love most about Bubz though is her nail tutorials. =D She loves anime type stuff, and that is reflected in her adoooorable nail tutorials. They're usually simple, cute, bright-colored, and fun. One was of cartoon-looking strawberries which I rocked a couple weeks ago... and my nails currently are in keeping with her other nail tutorial I just watched - it's a bee flying through the sky, with clouds. Ehh. Just trust. If you know me, be sure to check them out!

AndreasChoice  This girl is beauuuutiful and she has so many practical beauty tips just flowing out of her. Plus, she's kinda harsh in a confident, this-is-what-I-think-damn-it kind of way. bahah She always has really good hair and makeup tutorials, and she's funny. Win win. =)

JLovesMac1  Okay, let's see... This girl is NUTS. I think her name is Jarmaine or something? Should've tipped me off right there. At first I just thought she was really annoying. Now I think she's freaking hilarious. She's really cute, she's funny, and she TOO has good tutorials!

ClothesEncounters  Two girls share a channel, giving advice on how to wear certain trends, blah blah blah. I don't know what else to say about what they do. But I like their sense of style. It's kind of high fashion-y almost, but they do a lot of thrifting, and a lot of their stuff comes from places like Forever 21 and Good Will... so it's kind of inspiring that you can be really fashionable without spending tooooo much.

QueenBeauty  I'm not really sure why I like her. bahah She has lots of good makeup tutorials, of course, but I feel like she's a real person. She gets lots of hater comments and people twist her words around a lot, but I love her. =)

Woooow. What is with me and lengthy blogs? Whatever. I hope the Internet/YouTube junkies will appreciate this. Now I should go do things that pertain to my real life. Sad. Byyyye. <3

I wanna be girly and frivolous... so let's talk about my favorite beauty products!

(BOYS BEWARE. Lots of girly products. Girly giiiiiiiirly blog.)

YAY. =) So, let it be known that I absolutely love to smell good with the least amount of effort possible. Yay. (again?) And I just bought a couple new things at Kmart on the way home with mis padres, so I thought I'd talk about some of the things I love. =) This is just stuff I use in the shower, I guess.

I love, love, love body washes. Whip out my loofah and I'm GOOD TO GO!

My all-time favorite is Dial White Tea & Vitamin E Pearls
It says clean and soft on the bottle, and believe me, it doesn't mess around. =) It makes my skin feel really smooth and moisturized but not heavy. I love the way it smells too... I don't really know how to explain it... Apparently it smells like white tea? haha whatever. Go smell it. It's delicious.

The body wash I just picked up which I know I like (but not quite as much) is Caress Evenly Gorgeous? Something like that? Here's the picture. =P
It smells like brown sugar or sugar that's been caramelized. Also delicious. I don't have as much to say about this one... except it's more exfoliating, which I like.  It doesn't make a difference since I use a loofah anyway... Whatever. =)

On to SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS. Key to smelling good. =)

The set I use most often is Herbal Essences Hydralicious Totally Twisted.
As many of ya'll may know, I'm particularly lazy and I have kinda wavy-ish hair. I love to use this in the morning and just scrunch it on my way out. This stuff smells SOOOO good. It's got coconut in it (for the hydration part of it, I'm sure) and it smells sweet and fruity at the same time, which I love. I buy the 'Totally Twisted' set because it is for curly hair. It makes my silly little waves clump together better into something slightly more attractive. =) It also makes my hair feel crazy soft. Definitely one of my favorites.

Next up, another moisturizing set... Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner. =)
Another sweet-smelling, crazy moisturizing set that smells like coconut. It makes my hair feel really really soft. I can't say any more really, but I just love this. LOVE.

Now every now and then I have to stop hardcore moisturizing and start invigorating instead! baha. What I like to use for getting really clean is Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo.
I don't usually like too many Aveda products - they're basically all natural or organic or something like that, so sometimes they have a different smell. But this stuff I LOVE. It's the kind of mint that clears your sinuses a bit. =) It gets your hair and scalp really clean, and so if you've had any sort of buildup it amps shine. =) BOOM!

OTHER THINGS. =)

Exfoliating is GREAT. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub.
It smells nutty, a little sweet... SO GOOD. Not a scent I would have usually chosen but I'm glad I did. I had never bought a scrub before, and I just picked this one up at Wal-Mart after seeing Meghan choose the same one. WIN. I don't know what else to say about it. The scrub does a good job...scrubbing? haha I love how soft my skin feels after using it. Especially when I shave after using it. =)

Okay. I'm bored now. I just keep on watching all these videos on YouTube where people talk about their routines and how they get ready, products they like... blah blah blah... and I was like, yo, I wanna DO that. =) If anyone wants more silly little blogs like these, let me know! They make me so happy.

What am I going to do for the rest of my existence...?

So guys, I've been filling out lots of application forms for college and scholarships and whatnot. You give all the basic information: name, address, phone, email... Then you move on to the next question: Intended Major/Field of Study. EEK!!!! Some essays ask what your future plans are.

I DON'T KNOW.

It's so funny how my interests change... I have a hard time keeping track of what I want to do, and this is MY life. haha Let me just tell you about aaaaall the things I've wanted to be throughout my life. (well, the things I can remember anyway)
*4th grade: scientist ... Where did that even COME from?
*Middle school: artist
Somewhere along the lines I stopped caring...
Then I started caring again.
*Junior year: animator ... probably the coolest idea I ever had. I think I was inspired by Avatar. Doesn't sound quite as cool now, does it? haha
*Junior year, again: architect ... the most practical job I ever wanted
*Senior year: ... It's a mystery. These days, I'm obsessed with makeup. I might want to be a makeup artist, but I'm really not that good at it. a;sldnfslinglskdnglindslgk

I'm so confused. =/ <3

I hate being sick.

My dearest friend Meghan was (or has been) sick for the last three-ish days.  I thought I'd be fine. Of course not. I'm not sure if she got me sick, but I'm definitely down. I absolutely HATE being sick. I feel all cold, then I get hot. I'm all congested. My throat hurts. It's just lame. You never know how good you feel until you don't feel so good anymore! And don't I know it.

It probably doesn't help that yesterday my school hosted our annual show choir invitational. (YAY) It was tons of fun, of course. Show choir is my thing, and I love it SO much... But I had to get up at like 6 AM, curl my hair, and get to the school by 7:15. A few other girls and I were judges' hosts - a.k.a. judges' bitches. We got them whatever they wanted, sharpened their pencils, double-checked the math on their ballots, yada yada yada. That really didn't bother me, I guess. What bothered me was how loooong our day was. I was at the school from 6:15 until at least 11:00 (I don't really remember how late it was) keeping busy all day. Since we were hosting the judges instead of a show choir group, we really didn't have any down time... blaaah.

Wow, I guess this is all very interesting. Not. haha I think in the future I might actually do more blogs about show choir? A lot of people make fun of it, and it is something very near and dear to my heart... so I think I'd have a lot to say. Lemme know what you think.

Anyway. Sorry for the weirdo blog. I'll try to blame it on being sick. =P <3

More movies, of course!

So this last Sunday night I watched the Academy Awards. YAY. I almost never watch these awards and things because I never know when they're going on.  I lucked out. =D  So, seeing these made me think of all the quality movies I LOVED this year, and the ones I didn't get a chance to see...

Movies I saw and enjoyed...
INCEPTION!
Such an awesome movie. I think I should buy it. Hmm. Anyone who has not seen it, go rent it just as soon as you can! (I think it might be out on DVD already? Idk) If at all possible, avoid operating any vehicles for at least a couple hours after viewing this movie because it has been known to cause serious disorientation.  Just kidding. Sort of. =)

HP7 and the Deathly Hallows Part One
I don't think it really won any awards that I can think of, but it was nominated for a couple things.  Whatever, Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart.

The Social Network
So cool.  Very different from anything I have ever seen.  Jesse Eisenberg plays Mark Zuckerburg, the creator of Facebook.  He did a very good job, acting like the biggest ass on screen ever. I loved it. =) Plus, I liked his simple sense of style... Random. I'm into fashion, what can I say? haha

The Fighter
Ah, Boston. Mark Wahlberg is beautiful.  Christian Bale is grimy, which is how he is supposed to be. Wahlberg plays a boxer in Boston that is dedicated to his family and his girlfriend and the fights... But he struggles to balance all of them. Something like that. Very good. =)

THE TOWN!
I literally just watched this last night... You've seen the ads.  The men dressed up as nuns have machine guns and take some chick hostage... and Ben Affleck, one of the robbers, falls in love with her on accident.  SO cool.  Not the happiest movie.  But I really liked it.  It was actually directed by Ben Affleck himself, fun fact.

Movies from the Oscars I didn't get to see, but want to...
Black Swan
The King's Speech (going to that this Friday!!)
and maaaybe True Grit and 127 Hours

Hmm. I guess that's all.  But! There are some new ones coming out that I want to see as well... I always want to watch movies and then give my opinion on them later, so I feel like this will be a regular blog. haha

New movies coming out that excite me...
(I know, I know. My plot descriptions are ... well... lackluster. I'm just giving you the basic idea. Go IMDB that nonsense!)

Limitless:
Bradley Cooper stars. He takes some drug that practically makes him superhuman. He's always '90 steps ahead' of everyone else. Check out the traielrs.

Source Code:
Jake Gyllenhaal stars. He keeps on waking up in the body of some guy he doesn't know. He has to figure out who bombed the train, but he gets caught up in some other things along the way... Specifically, this girl (Michelle Monaghan).

The Adjustment Bureau:
MATT DAMON. I could end my reason as to why I want to see the movie right there.  But I won't, I guess.  Matt Damon (obviously) stars.  He falls in love with Emily Blunt (because he has never met me, of course), but is intercepted by the people who control 'Fate'.  Fate says that the couple is not meant to be, and Damon fights to keep her.  Wow, my synopsis makes it sound gay. It looks really cool, okay? haha

Beastly:
Some apparently narcissistic, awful guy (Alex Pettyfer) is the main character.  Mary-Kate Olson casts a spell on him, making him look ugly. He has to find someone to love him even when he looks disgusting, or he'll remain that way for the rest of his life.  Vanessa Hudgens also stars.  Kind of a modern spin on Beauty and the Beast, I think, hence the title.

WOW, long blog. Yes. This is definitely going to be a regular thing now. I absolutely adore movies. I hope you do too. Let me know what you think of any and all of the movies I talked about here, as well as the movies I forgot to mention.
Thanks guys. <3
