Advice to my fellow ladies...

Avoid all careers in which it is extremely likely for you to get hit on by creepy old men.
hahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahaahahahah

I was at the gas station with my mom, and the cashier commented on how I looked all fancy (I had just performed for show choir).  She was wondering if I was looking to pick up some guys, cuz Casey's is definitely the place to do it! HA! She apparently has a lot of gross people come in and hit on her.  Imagine, truckers and hicks from all over the state, stopping to buy gas and hit on YOU.  A girl behind us in line piped in, saying that she and some of her friends who work at a casino have to wear a wedding ring when they go to work.  A fake wedding ring!  Can you imagine? =P

My advice, for today, is to avoid jobs where you will be forced into situations with creepy men, if at all possible. =) <3

So I was listening to 96.9...

96.9 is a local country station.
Country? Hawhaaaat!?! You like country!?
Yeah. Yeah, I do. I'm a recent convert.

There was some song on the radio, on said country station, that was talking about some guy judging the artist for being country. Blah blah blah. Whatever, it's a typical thing to write about, you know.  BUT it did remind me that there is a looot of hate out there for country music.  This fact kind of bothers me.  Yes, some of those twangy tunes, if you will, are a bit too hokey for me.  But just like every genre, there is talent there.  This will bring me to a big long rant about people saying, "Oh, I absolutely hate INSERT GENRE HERE!"  It's annoying.  The point I'm trying to make is that there will be good music and talented musicians in every single style of music.  I think I really need to illustrate this.  I will list a good song (and hopefully post a link) for every genre that I can think of off the top of my head.  This may or may not go over well.  I will probably choose well-known songs for this... So if you don't know any of these titles, look 'em up!

Okay. Wow. I have a problem. I'm stopping now. I tried, whenever possible, to get the official videos for most of these songs... but you know, that's not always the way it goes. haha that was a probably a major waste of my time cuz most people will not look up all these songs... but for those of you who do, I freaking love you. Good night. <3

My Reviews of Recent Movies =)

The Roommate
Okay, definitely not my favorite.  It's supposed to be some sort of suspenseful thriller... I just thought it was weird.  I'm very easily scared, and it really only made me jump a couple times. Lame.  Anyway, the basic plot is that Minka Kelly's character is a freshman in college, and her roommate (Leighton Meester) becomes obsessed with her.  There was a lot of hype about this movie because it looked pretty good in commercials, but it fell flat when you watched it.  The best part of the movie? Cam Gigandet.  *swoon*  I love that he hasn't been playing the villain lately. (like in Never Back Down, Twilight, etc...)  Although, he played a frat boy.  Lame.  BUT one thing I really hated about this movie - how they portray mental illness.  Okay, I can't say this idea is all my own because I heard another person review this negatively, but I totally agreed.  I had similar thoughts in the theater... Basically, this movie leaves you with the impression that all people with mental illnesses (esp. schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) are scary/evil/dangerous... You get the idea.  It was kind of upsetting...
Overall:  Don't bother.  You won't be scared.  You'll feel unsatisfied leaving the theater.  UNLESS, of course, you are a major Cam Gigandet fan, then by all means.

The Unknown
Oh! Totally worth the seven dollars for the ticket. =) Starring Liam Neeson, this is kind of a psychological action movie, I think?  It's kind of hard to categorize.  So, in this film, the basic idea is that Neeson gets separated from his wife chasing down his luggage when they're on a trip to Berlin for a convention.  He gets in an accident, hits his head pretty dang hard, I'd say, and wakes up confused in a hospital.  As he remembers more and more, he tries to find his wife and put the pieces of his life back together.  He finally finds his wife, only to find out that she does not recognize him at all.  Hmmm... Interesante, no?  I absolutely loved this movie.  At times it had me a wee bit confused.  Alright, at times I was quite confused.  But there was a lot of good action - Neeson is a badass, as you should already know.  I thought it was a good mix of action, mystery(ness), and suspense.
Overall:  Take my word for it, and go see the movie.  I don't want to tell you anything else because I wouldn't want to ruin it for you.  Just remember that things are not always as they seem. =)

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never
Never say you will never go to this movie.  Basically, it shows you how the kid became famous from when he was a baby til now, and it illustrates how he prepared for his biggest performance to date: Madison Square Garden.  I'm not going to dwell long on this particular flick, as I know it gets lots of craaaaazy conflicting reviews. hahah  I would just like to say that going into the theater I was a sarcastic, cynical, and probably sensible young girl.  Meghan and I joked, 'ahahah, Bieber Fever, blah blah blah, this is so stupid..."  We walked out in love.  Kid you not.  We went and bought the boy's CD.  I know that there are a lot of people who really hate the guy, but I have to tell you I didn't realize he was so talented.  He's literally a prodigy.  He started out on the drums, and now he sings, plays piano and trumpet.... and other things I'm sure.
Overall:  Boys, don't go see it - I don't want you getting run over and probably killed by the crazy angry mob of Bieber Fans you insult.  Girls, it's a must see.  I think everyone should see the movie at least once.

No Strings Attached
I was SO excited to go see this movie.  Believe me, I'm always up for some Ashton Kuetcher.  Natalie Portman though? Ehh.  The main idea: Can two friends have a strictly physical relationship and keep things platonic?  It's kind of a cute idea... I'm having a hard time thinking of things to say about this one since I saw it a couple weeks ago.
Overall:  Go see it.  It's cute, and it's funny.  Worth a ticket, I'm sure. haha sorry for the less than convincing reveiw.

That's all for now. =)  But there are lots of movies I haven't seen yet that I want to:
The Hall Pass
Just Go With It
I Am Number Four
The Other Woman

I can't think of any others at the moment... If you see any of these, drop a comment and let me know how they are! =)

Bad Internet Connections...

Slow internet drives me absolutely NUTS.  I'm going crazy!  This isn't stopping my YouTube addiction! It's simply making me go INSANE.  It took me five minutes to load the page just to look at my followers on this blog.  I have seven followers.  Seven (not even) pictures and seven usernames!?!? ABSURD!  As you can tell, I'm a weeee bit irritable.  But guess what?

It's my birthday!! =D I am 19 years old.  If you're in high school, yeah, I'm probably older than you.  I've heard, blah blah blah, you're so old, blah blah blah, grandma, blah blah blah.

This birthday has gone pretty well so far.  The only trouble is, what to do for a party in small town Iowa? Eat. Movie. Go home. Drink beer. Just kidding.  Buuuuut that would be a typical birthday party for someone in this area - minus the eating, movie-watching, and going home... hehehe just kidding. Sort of. =)  I also really don't like to have friends out to my house either.  My house is always pretty messy, not to mention it's 20 minutes out of town... A weeeee bit out of the way.  Quite a quandry, don't you think?  Oh well. I'll probably do the standard food and movie bit.

Speaking of which!  Sorry, this is a really all-over-the-place blog... I love movies.  I go to them in theaters all the time.  I do believe I shall review the ones I have seen recently.  New post time. Yay!

Let's Get WITH IT

So, let's face it.  Usually I'm not exactly with it when it comes to what's new, trendy, and ... how you say ... 'hip'.  This is nothing new.  But some things have been confusing me lately.  NOT Bieber Fever, mind you.  I totally understand the mindless obsession with a slightly feminine crazy talented young boy.  Oh no, the thing/person I'm confused about at the moment? Nicki Minaj.
Pink-haired female rapper.  Not my cup of tea.  You know, I really don't think I need to say anything else about her... Less is more, eh? <3

Makeup On a Budget...

Ya'll know what I'm talking about: DRUGSTORE MAKEUP. <3

So lately I've been doing my research.  I am by no means, uh, affluent.  I don't have a lot of money to throw around on high end makeup, so I've been doing my research on the good, less expensive makeup.  You definitely don't always have to buy really expensive makeup to get good quality.  My birthday's coming up, and I know that since I've been obsessed with makeup and Mom doesn't want to get me anything extreme, I started looking around for that inexpensive quality.  =)  I think it's important to be well-informed when making a purchase, so I always look around BEFORE making a decision in the store.  Anyway!  I'll just create an illustrated list of the products I already own here, and hopefully as I continue I will be able to add to this list...

Here we go!  (side note: with any and all of my reviews, I never ever pay attention to how long lasting a product is... I'm oblivious to time!)

Loreal Paris True Match Foundation (in light ivory W2)
I love, love, love this foundation. =)  I started loving it when my cousin Joyce showed it to me, and then forgot about it... And I've fallen in love again.  I feel like this foundation blends really well, and gives a good overall light coverage.  Obviously when I use it I still need to conceal blemishes and other imperfections with a different concealer.  I like to apply this foundation with a slightly damp cosmetic sponge, which gives it a really natural finish.  Another thing I like about this foundation is that you don't need to apply any powder to set it or keep it matte.  I just now realized actually (haha) that it is an oil free foundation, so that makes sense.  I feel like I do really need to do a good job moisturizing my face before I apply this, however.

Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfecter (in the lightest color?)
This is a new find for me! As in I found it in the last month or so.  There is kind of a funny story to explain why I found this concealer/highlighter... Michelle Phan did a tutorial a while back on Ray William Johnson (funny YouTube guy!!!) for guy makeup.  She used the concealer to hide dark circles and imperfections, and the highlighter to make his skin look brighter.  Who said it can't work on a girl? =)  I'm so glad I watched that tutorial and picked it up.  I have kind of bad skin, and the concealer does such a great job covering blemishes.  I often do not wear any foundation, and if I only use this concealer I am set!  I love the highlighter too - I use it on my dark circles/inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, bridge of my nose, and right above my cheekbones.  It brightens my skin and makes me look really healthy.  I use both the concealer and the highlighter simply with the built in applicators.  One of my new favorites for sure!

Loreal True Match Blush (in cool)
This is actually the blush that made me start wanting to use blush. All the time.  My mom bought it on accident because she likes cream blushes, not powder.  So she gave it to me!  I stumble upon all my favorite products by accident.  This is a nice, soft powder blush that is super easy for beginners to use (AKA meeee).  Its the perfect color to get that subtle glow - it's not quite so pink as it shows in the picture.  I think it's a bit more peachy...  It's really easy to apply just a little so it's soft, or build it up as much as you want.  I think it's a really versatile shade.  I like to use my own blush brush though, and not the one provided in this little compact.  Oh, it has a mirror!  Super handy.  The only thing I don't always like about this blush is that there is a bit of shimmer to it, which is not always what you want.  Other than that, one of my favorite blushes for everyday.

Maybelline Eyestudio Quad (in Spirited Seas)
Okay, so you might be looking at this palette going....wtf?  Me too.  Sort of.  This should be a great palette for most blue eyes, but not for me!  My eyes are too grey for this palette.  Why is it on this list, then?  The texture of these eyeshadows are incredible!  They're so smooth and shimmery and I love the way they apply.  I do not hate these colors by any means... But the icy blue colors don't do me any favors.  The light whitish gold on the left is awesome for highlighting my brow bone and inner corners when I'm doing warmer eyeshadow looks.  The copper on the left is also great to perk up a brown shadow look.  The reason I'm showing you guys this palette is because it is the one that I currently own, so I know what I'm talking about.  But also because I plan on buying two other palettes that I'm reeeally excited about.  Since I know I like the way the shadows look and feel, I'm hopeful these will be great...

This is Pink Persuasion, the palette I would LOVE to get my hands on immediately! It's high on the birthday list so fingers crossed. =)  It's the perfect palette for a standard smokey eye, plus a pink color to warm up your eyes.

This is Legendary Lilac, which I am not quite as crazy about... But I still really want to add some good purple eyeshadows to my collection, and this looks like a good palette.

Tell me what you think! I hope this was helpful. Less impulse buying = being happier with your purchases.  YAY! <3

A Lazy Night at Darcy's House

Here I am, sitting on my father's bed with his cheapo laptop, watching Gilmore Girls and YouTube videos intermittently.  Ramen noodles and blueberries.  Perfect.  Have I started my homework yet?  Of course not.  10:11 PM.  I don't care yet.
I was talking to my friend about Ramen noodles actually.  She thought she was making them wrong because they were too runny.  AHA!  I have much knowledge when it comes to crazy cheap food. =)  So I'm going to pretend like I am well rounded and instruct you on how I would prepare the noodles. (hahahahah)

Darcy's Ramen Noodles:
Boil 2 cups of water, add noodles.  (as instructed)
Remove from heat, and pour off about half the water.
Add seasoning. Voila!

So silly.  Who blogs about the perfect way to make Ramen noodles?  Me, I guess.  BUT!  It does allow you to get the full flavor without the noodles being too runny or too dry.  Anyway.  I think I've been a bit all over the place lately.  Hence the crazy blog.  I've been busy, early morning vocal practices and working after school everyday.  Enough of my complaining.
Byyye. <3

Misinformed? I think so!

Hey. Have you heard about the crazy girl who was obsessed with Twilight? So much, in fact, that she and her boyfriend were ... uh ... roleplaying, we'll call it, and he bit her like he was a vampire.  Then she proceeds to tell the cops she was attacked.  Whatever.  Weirdo.  That's not the point.  I was listening to the radio when some announcer says something like 'as if you don't have enough reasons to keep your kids away from that nasty Twilight series, this one chick had a guy bite her and called in the cops!'  Okay, I'll admit it. I'm paraphrasing. But honestly! Why is he blaming Twilight? Just the author and the series have neeeever encouraged people to bite each other like vampires during foreplay.  Cue shudder.  Blame it on the crazy chick, not the series itself.  (In fact, Edward was very AGAINST biting Bella, if you recall...)  I just heard that on the radio, and it made me mad.  I just think he's blaming the wrong thing/person.  The books are fiction.  That chick is nuts.  Who's at fault, really?
I should probably mention... Yes, I do like Twilight.  I will defend it when people start hating, but I'm not a 'Twi-hard' fan.
Peace. =)

I simply must be crazy. =)

So, as many of you may know, this is Michelle Phan.
She is a famous YouTuber, and she works for Lancome these days.  She has reeeeally messed with my head.  For the longest time, I was just fine with coming to school with wet hair and absolutely no makeup.  But she confused me.  She started out as a painter, so makeup is just a new medium for her to create art.  This intrigued me, of course.  I started to watch all her videos just for fun, watching the way she did different things.  Then I actually started trying out her different looks, using her techniques.  Nowadays, I'm positively obsessed with makeup.  It's simply ridiculous how many makeup gurus, as they're called, I'm subscribed to on YouTube.  I'm addicted.  And it's her fault.... I think.

This brings me to the conclusion that I'm rather shallow any more.  I spend way too much time getting ready, or at least way more than I used to.  I can't figure out if that's good or bad.  Hmmm.  This is kind of a warning blog.  Beware that if you follow me, I may talk way too much about makeup.  I am so sorry.

Mom asked me the other day if I was sure I didn't want to go into cosmetology as a career.  I immediately blew it off.  Pssht.  I work in a salon, and I don't particularly enjoy it that much.  But that idea has been planted, and now it's consuming me. hahah  Makeup artist or architect?  I simply must be crazy. =)

First Blog Ever!

I'm not even really sure what my blog will contain, but I'm really excited to get started! Admittedly, I get overexcited about a LOT of things.  Blogging is no exception.  Buuuut I think this blog will contain my latest obsessions, inspirations, and stresses.  I simply cannot wait to get started. =) This is just an introductory entry... so maybe I should introduce myself!

Hi, my name is Darcy.  I love life, and eating is one of my favorite pastimes.  Though I'm usually happy, I get irritated extremely easily.  Blame it on the Irish temper.  No one really takes me seriously when I'm mad though.  I do what I can with what I have.  That's all that counts, right? =D
